Happy Memorial Day!

 
Stamps Used:  USA Noteblock & Flea Market

 

This is a card I created a few months ago using the USA Noteblock.  I almost forgot to post it.  I decided to create a flag background and then mount the noteblock on top of it.  The flag was done using strips of white and red cardstock.  The white strips were distressed with ink.  The red strips are Bazzill and have a nice texture.  The stars are embossed in white on a piece of textured blue cardstock.  This stamp will also work great for 4th of July and military cards.

Hello Sunshine!

I am happy to report that things are looking good for the holiday weekend!  The rain seems to have finally left.  There is a chance of a shower on Saturday but other than that I think we have sunshine!  It looks like it will be a busy weekend with lots of bbq's.  This weekend is also when all the beach clubs open.  We are thinking about having a few friends over and making pizza's on the bbq tomorrow night.  Saturday we were invited to a friend's beach club for a bbq.  Sunday we will head down to our beach club.  Monday we will hang around here.  First, the parade in town and then a bunch a friends over for a bbq and swimming.  I have a bit of food shopping and cooking to start doing.  

I am going to try to get a few blog posts scheduled before I get consumed in all the weekend festivities.  This first card is perfect for the sunny weather we are having.

This is a perfect bright & sunny card from Jennifer R.  I think I have a new sentiment to add to the "to do" list.   Don't you just love all the diecut shapes and embossing?  I really have to start picking up more embossing folders.  <sigh>.

Julie has been rockin' the banner stamps.  I like how the card is pretty neutral with just a bit of color from the patterned paper on the banner.  The frame that Julie doodled around the card finishes it off nicely.

 Joy mixed up one of the new stamps with some vintage and holiday stamps.  The white sentiment looks great against the solid pink bottom.  I am guessing it is embossed since the coverage is so good.  If not, I have to find out what kind of white ink pad Joy is using!

 

 

The More The Merrier

Would you believe I have another addition to the Purple Onion Designs team?  The very talented Alice Wertz will be joining the design team.  Alice creates some simply adorable cards.  Please check out her blog Alice's {Little} Wonderland if you are not familiar with her work. 

Here are a couple of cards that Alice recently created for us. 

Don't you just love the yellow she used on the Doodle Cupcake Frame?  This card just screams fun.

 

I love the vibrant coloring of the orange slices from the Citrus Set.  It adds the perfect impact for a simple and clean card.

I hope you are as excited as I am to see all of Alice's future projects.

It's Friday!

Does anyone else really look forward to Friday's?  It is so nice knowing you don't have to rush around  getting homework done, dinner going, etc.  I also have to admit that the thought of sleeping a bit later on the weekends is nice too!  I am a late night person so I like getting a little more sleep in.  :) 

The weather has been rainy all week.  It is supposed to be a bit nicer this weekend.  There is rain scheduled for tomorrow (and it just started raining now).  Tonight we are headed out to a Mexican restaurant with friends.  We'll have dinner and then hang around to watch a friend's band.  They are playing outside so I hope the weather clears.  I am looking forward to some guacamole and sangria!  I might even start off with a margarita...lol.  Tomorrow we will probably head down to the beach to finish getting the cabana ready for the season.  I know this is usually a busy time of year for everyone with sports, communions, graduations and gearing up for the summer season.

I still have more goodies to share with you.  I figured it was about time I came back and showed you.

It's always fun to create a little home decor piece with your stamps and scrapping supplies.  Carly did just that with the Pot-a-Flower set.  How cute is that flower in the mini terra cotta pot?

 

Donna Mikasa

Donna has created several other adorable cards like this one using the Home Sweet Home set.  I will be sharing the other with you over the next week or so.  I am really digging all the patterned papers that everyone is using with these stamps.

 

Joy Taylor

Joy incorporated two of the new sets to create this card. She used the birdhouse along with a sentiment from Home Sweet Home.  I like how several of the sets play off of one another.

 

Jenn Biederman

Jenn decided to use a button for the center of the Mixed Middles Flower.  It has a nice big space for embellishments.  The sentiment is from the Hello Set.

 

Jennifer Roach

Look at how beautifully Jennifer mimicked the pattern in the background paper for this card.  The new Build-a-Banner set and the Birthday Noteblock makes this such a festive birthday card. 

 

Julie Dudley

Even though I keep showing you oodles of card samples these stamps are perfect for layouts.  The Build-a-Banner is a perfect size to use on layouts.  I love how Julie incorporated bird stamps on a little boys page. It totally works!  There is also a little journaling in the Elegant Label stamp. 

 

Sharon Ong

How funny are all those little birds?  This card shows just a little of Sharon's silly side.

Remember how I told you the design team was loving the new stamps?  They all kept emailing me with their excitement.  Well they haven't seemed to be able to put these stamps down.  The projects keep rolling in...

I haven't been commenting about all the cards and just letting them speak for themselves.  I hope you are all taking notice to the wonderful little touches and ideas the girls have been coming up with.  I love the coloring Joy did on this card.  She also added a doodled border around both layers of the card.

I like how Sharon seems to effortlessly tie stamps into her layouts.  The clouds from the Home Sweet Home set and the Birdhouse fit right in with all her embellishments. 

 

Ronda Palazarri

Now this is a pretty cool card from Ronda.  Ronda loves experimenting and playing with different products and techniques.  Ronda took a new product from Wendy Vecchi called modeling film to make the rounded mason jar.  The mason jar was stamped on the film and colored.  It was then heated to mold it's rounded shape.  Ronda then cut and colored a few flowers from the bouquet and added them to the jar.  Pretty cool, huh?

International Scrapbooking Day Sale!

 
I put a whole bunch of stamps on sale for International Scrapbooking Day.  The majority of the sale stamps are 50% off!  There are no special sale pages set up.  All the items on sale are marked throughout the website with red sale prices.  There are a lot of journaling stamps on sale and lots of other images.  Two real steals of the day are these two sets:

Road Trippin'

Road Trippin' is on sale for $7.00!  This is such a great set to pick up for your upcoming Summer travel plans or any past trips you have taken.  The map measures 4 3/4" x 2 1/2".  You can use the little marker to plot out destinations.  The set comes with a little car and airplane depending on your choice of travel.  The set is great for layouts, minibooks, travel logs and even cards.

Jenn B did this layout using the Road Trippin' set.  I absolutely loved everything about it down to the diecut road sign shape of the layout.

Look at how Jenn repeatedly stamped "Road Trip" to create a background across the top of the layout.

How cute are those little compasses.  Jenn used the Date Me ring on the layout as well.  The other hot deal for today (shown below) is the Seasons Date Me set which has the seasons instead of the days of the week.

This is my favorite part of the layout.  I love how Jenn peeled back the paper to show a hidden map of their destination.  Once again you can see the Date Me stamp and the Road Trippin' stamped background.

This is the other stamp set that is a great deal.  Seasons Date Me designed by Liz Tamanaha of Paislee Press.  The set is on sale for $4.00!  Once again Jenn B knows how to rock this stamp set!
