A few weeks ago I posted this card from Jennifer Holmes. Jennifer decided to take the base of the house from the Home Sweet Home set and use it to frame her image. I have had quite a few people excited to "steal" this idea. Donna Mikasa was one of them. This is Donna's take on some framing.

I had a smile on my face as soon as I saw this card from Alice Wertz. The butterfly is so happy and sparkly. How could you not just smile?

I just wanted to thank the girls at Tombow for the projects they created with my stamps and the product that was supplied to us. Even though, most of us are using some type of Tombow product it was nice to try out some new ones.
There are more Halloween projects to share today. All three projects are from Jenn Biederman. Jenn also caught the Halloween bug. The card Jenn created has so much detail, texture and dimension to it. I am always in awe of the work that Jenn puts into her cards. She used the Damask Background stamp and a Spellbinders die to create a large window for her images. The Beware Label is a great match for the shape of the window. I like how she double stamped the witch and then offset it a bit when she adhered the second one to the card. It creates a definite shadow as the witch passes over the moon. Jenn used the Dual Brush Pens instead of an ink pad to color the image. She adhered the witch with the 3D Foam Tabs to give her dimension. The glitter in the background adds some more texture and jazzes up the card. The rest of the components were adhered with the Permanent Stamp Runner.

The next project from Jenn is a little home decor item. Jenn took a muffin tin and decorated it with different Halloween images. It is hard to tell from the photo but some of the pieces were clear acetate. Tombow's Mono Aqua Liquid Glue was used to adhere them since it dries clear.

The final project is a simple little coaster for a Halloween treat. In this case a Hershey Kiss. Jenn called it a placemat but I think coaster is more fitting. :) If you pop over to Jenn's blog she has a short video on how she created these which includes a tutorial on distress inking. Jenn always does an amazing job distressing her projects.
There are a couple of girls on the design team that have a thing for Halloween. Sometimes I start to see Halloween projects from them in August. I think they are done with summer and just can't wait to get into the Halloween mode. This year the projects started to trickle in for the Tombow Blog Hop.
Jennifer Holmes is probably the biggest Halloween lover of the group. To start of the festivities she created two cards. I like the untraditional colors she used on her cards. The first card uses the very popular Halloween Noteblock stamp. Jennifer used a resist techinque on this card. The Noteblock was stamped in white pigment ink and embossed. She then used the Tombow Dual Brush Markers and colored over the whole image. The embossed image resisted the marker but colored in the background. Then she simply wiped away the marker from the image. Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue was used to adhere all the little embellishments.

The next card uses some of the same non-traditional Halloween colors. Jennifer colored the spiders with the Dual Brush Markers. Several of the spiders were cut out and then applied to the card with the 3D Foam Squares. The ric rac was applied with Mono Aqua Liquid Glue.

Here is another example of the gorgeous effects you can get when using the Tombow Dual Brush Pens. Once again Donna worked her magic and created this great card with the markers and colorless blender. The key to working with the markers is to use watercolor paper. This will allow you to work the colors and not have the fibers of your paper start to break apart. The other thing to remember is that the Dual Brush Pens can be used on any stamp instead of an ink pad. This way you can coordinate colors. Donna did this with the zig zag stitching stamp at the bottom of the flower. The green stitching now matches the flower's stem perfectly!
After Donna watercolored the flower she cut it out and applied it to the card front with Tombow's 3D Foam Tabs. This gives the image some dimension. It would look great stamped and colored directly on the watercolor paper but the raised image really adds to the card.

Courtney shows another coloring technique using the Tombow Dual Brush Markers. This technique uses the markers to color the actual rubber stamp. It allows you to color certain areas of the image with different colors. This is a look you will not be able to achieve with an ink pad. The next step is to use the colorless blender (a paint brush or waterbrush can also be used) to pull the color of the stamped line into the open areas of the image.
Courtney then cut out the stamped images and glued them back together with Tomobow's Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. The images where then attached to the card with the 3D Foam tabs.
I was recently contacted by Tombow to see if I would be interested in doing a little collaboration of sorts. It was a no-brainer because I have been using Tombow products since I started stamping over 10 years ago. My adhesive of choice is still the Mono Adhesive Permanent tape runner. It has never failed me, so I never had a reason to try anything else.
Over the next few days I will be sharing projects from the design team that use several Tombow products. As always, the girls have created some great stuff! The first card today is from Donna Mikasa. Donna stamped her images onto watercolor paper and then colored them using Tombow's Dual Brush Pens. Donna used the colorless blender with the markers to achieve the beautiful watercolored look. This is another product that I used early on. I would use the markers as watercolors either with a colorless blender or a water brush. The other technique I like to use these markers for is coloring directly on a solid image stamp, spritzing with water and stamping.

Next up is another bird card, this time from Courtney Kelley.. Courtney also stamped her image on watercolor paper and used the Dual Brush Pens to watercolor the bird with the colorless blender. She then cut out the bird and attached it to her card front using the New Stamp Runner Permanent Adhesive. The birds wing was attached using 3D Foam Tabs.

Well today is the first day of school here. I really enjoy the freedom of summer. I am not looking forward to the structured school days (or the school work). It was fun just hanging out all summer. The one good thing is that I can get back into the groove of working full days again. It seems to get tougher and tougher each year. I have soooo many new stamp designs to finish working on and get pressed. I'll probably keep the blog posts short and sweet so I can plow through all the images and get those stamps made.
